The Angels optioned Aldegheri to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.
Grayson Rodriguez (back) is expected to return from the 15-day injured list the next time the Angels need a fifth starter, and Aldegheri will end up giving up his spot in the rotation and heading back to the minors. Aldegheri's demotion comes after he went 1-3 with a 8.10 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 10:9 K:BB in 16.2 innings over his last four starts.
