Abreu struck out one over 1.1 perfect innings to earn the save in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Angels.
Josh Hader had pitched four of the last five days, so Abreu was called upon to close out this game. This was Abreu's second save since the All-Star break, but he is unlikely to carve out a larger sharing of closing opportunities as long as Hader is healthy. For the year, Abreu has a 4.74 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 48:28 K:BB through 38 innings, and he's added seven saves and six holds.
