Devenski (0-1) gave up five hits, two earned runs, and three walks over five innings in Saturday's 2-0 loss to the A's.
The 25-year-old rookie continued to acquit himself well, carrying over much of the effectiveness that he's displayed in relief over to Saturday's spot start. Although he flashed some control problems for the first time this season by issuing three free passes, Devenski still managed to throw a relatively efficient 91 pitches over his time on the mound. He induced 10 swinging strikes as well and was encouragingly able to avoid the long ball altogether. Even if he returns to the bullpen for the time being, Devenski's performance certainly gives a glimpse at his starting potential down the road.
