Diaz is absent from the lineup Thursday at Seattle.
Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double Wednesday, and while he holds a paltry .189/.244/.243 slash line on the season, he is batting .308 (8-for-26) in eight games since returning from a hamstring injury. With prospect Jordan Diaz back in Triple-A, the 32-year-old Diaz appears to be on the short side of a platoon at second base with Tony Kemp.
