Montas (1-0) fired a scoreless ninth inning while earning Saturday's 6-5 win over the Tigers, issuing a walk and recording a strikeout.

Montas worked around a two-out walk to Jim Adduci to dispose of Alex Avila, Tyler Collins and Jose Iglesias and was then credited with his first victory of the season when Adam Rosales singled in the game-winning run in the bottom half of the frame. This was a welcome break for the 24-year-old, who'd struggled through his prior four appearances. The hard-throwing right-hander had yielded seven earned runs on 11 hits and three walks over the five innings encompassing that stretch while seeing his ERA balloon from 4.22 to 6.89.
