McNeil was initially slated to serve as the Athletics' designated hitter in the series finale, but Jonah Heim will instead handle those duties. The Athletics haven't indicated that the late lineup change was the result of McNeil nursing an injury or illness, so he may simply be getting the afternoon off after going just 2-for-20 over the last seven contests.
