Sears allowed four hits and two walks while striking out one over six scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Tuesday.

Sears was given the start on short notice after Osvaldo Bido (wrist) landed on the injured list earlier in the day. It worked out well, as Sears turned in his first scoreless outing since July 30, though the Athletics' bullpen couldn't maintain the 2-0 lead Sears exited the game with after six frames. The southpaw lowered his ERA to 4.18 with a 1.19 WHIP and 123:43 K:BB through 163.2 innings over 29 starts this season. He's lined up to make his next start on the road versus the White Sox in what would be a highly favorable matchup.
