Gray (3-2) lasted just two innings against the Tigers Wednesday, allowing four runs on two hits.
It was a miserable start for the righty after entering the contest with wins in back-to-back outings. He got through the first inning unscathed, but allowed a big second inning by the Tigers, highlighted by a J.D. Martinez three-run homer. With the poor showing, Gray saw his ERA jump more than a full point to 3.81. Oakland will need much better performances from its ace moving forward this season.
