Emerging Athletics starter Chris Bassitt isn't winning games, but he's winning respect. He hurled another strong one Saturday night in Baltimore.

Bassitt pitched a career-long eight innings and allowed three runs on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts. He remains 1-4 after the no-decision despite a sparkling 2.60 ERA.

The long ball proved to be his undoing. He was sailing along with a 3-0 lead in the fourth when Chris Davis slammed a two-run homer, then Gerardo Parra added a solo blast in the sixth. Bassitt faced only one batter over the minimum after the Davis tater.

The right-hander has given up just 14 runs on 41 hits over his last 51 2/3 innings.
