Gimenez is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Rangers on Friday due to a hamstring injury, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Gimenez has been working through hamstring soreness for the past couple of days, and while he could be available off the bench Friday, the Blue Jays would prefer for him to rest up and be cleared to return for Saturday's contest. In Gimenez's absence, Ernie Clement will start at shortstop while Josh Smith gets the draw at second base.
