Brennan was released by the Red Sox on Monday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
The 30-year-old had been with Triple-A Worcester since June 16 and only appeared in one game for the Red Sox this season, tossing three scoreless innings on June 12. In his career he has compiled a 4.21 ERA over 57.2 innings in the majors.
