Atlanta optioned Santana to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.
Santana was cast off the active roster to make room for starting pitcher Ian Anderson (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list ahead of his scheduled outing Sunday versus the Giants. Though he scooped up fluky wins in three straight relief appearances earlier this month, Santana has worked in largely low-leverage spots out of the Atlanta bullpen this season. Over 37.2 innings, he's recorded a 3.82 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and three holds.
