Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Wednesday that Tomlin (neck) isn't expected to be activated from the injured list before the end of the regular season, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Though Tomlin tossed a simulated game Wednesday to seemingly put him in position for a return from the IL this weekend, Snitker indicated the right-hander is merely in the process of ramping up in case Atlanta needs an extra arm out of the bullpen. At this point, Tomlin doesn't look to be in consideration for a spot on Atlanta's postseason roster, should the team beat out Philadelphia for the division title. Before landing on the IL on Aug. 31, Tomlin had surrendered 10 earned runs in 4.1 innings over his final two relief appearances.
