Schwellenbach (5-7) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Saturday, allowing six runs (three earned) on 10 hits over five innings. He struck out three.
Schwellenbach went 1-2-3 through the opening frame before surrendering a leadoff homer to Spencer Horwitz to open the second. Horwitz would continue to be a thorn in the right-hander's side throughout the contest, launching a second leadoff shot in the fourth to kick off a three-run inning for Toronto while also tagging Schwellenbach for an RBI double in the fifth. The 24-year-old would still make it through five frames for the 15th time in 17 starts this season, though not before giving up a season-high 10 hits. It also marked the fourth time on the campaign that Schwellenbach has coughed up two or more home runs in an outing, and he's now given up multiple runs in six of his last seven starts.
