Schwellenbach (4-6) allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out eight over five-plus innings to take the loss Friday versus the Angels.

Schwellenbach cruised through the Angels' order the first time around, but he gave up a two-run home run to Logan O'Hoppe in the fourth inning. He then walked the first two batters in the sixth, and Pierce Johnson allowed one of them to score after replacing him on the mound, leaving Schwellenbach with his first loss since July 21. This was the first time in four outings he didn't get a quality start. The rookie right-hander is now at a 4.04 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 85:14 K:BB over 75.2 innings through 13 starts this season. There was talk earlier in the month of managing Schwellenbach's workload, so consider him tentatively projected to pitch at home versus the Phillies next week.
