The Rays released McKay (elbow) on Monday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
McKay cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Durham on Thursday, and he's since been handed his release. He underwent Tommy John surgery in mid-September and will set his sights on rehabbing for the entirety of the 2023 campaign with the hope of earning a contract for the 2024 season.
