Romero (abdomen) has resumed light baseball activities and is expected to rejoin the active roster by mid-August, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Romero underwent an emergency appendectomy in mid-July. The impending free agent is a trade candidate and could still be dealt before Monday's deadline even though he will not be available to pitch for more than a week. Romero has authored a 3.35 ERA and 43:16 K:BB over 43 innings this season.
