Gibson (8-7) took the loss Saturday, giving up five runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks over 5.1 innings as the Cardinals were downed 7-2 by the Blue Jays. He struck out one.
The right-hander was locked in a 1-1 pitchers' duel with Jose Berrios through five innings. Gibson walked two batters to load the bases with one out in the sixth before an error charged to Masyn Winn helped open the floodgates. While Saturday's unearned runs cushioned the blow to his ERA, Gibson has been tagged with at least five runs in three of his last six starts. He'll look to bounce back in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Guardians.
