Newsome (elbow) was claimed off waivers by the Cardinals on Friday.
Newsome was outrighted off the Mariners' 40-man roster and will now join a new team heading into the offseason. The 26-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery over the summer and is poised to spend most, if not all, of the 2022 campaign on the Cardinals' injured list.
