Newsome (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list at Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.
Newsome was outrighted to Triple-A after being claimed by the Cardinals in November, and he could miss the entire 2021 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery last summer.
