DeJong went 2-for-4 with a double in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Dodgers.
After homering in a pinch-hit capacity in his first major-league at-bat Sunday against the Rockies, DeJong was the only Cardinal to log a multi-hit effort in Monday's loss. DeJong was slashing a solid .294/.331/.541 over 182 plate appearances at Triple-A Memphis before his call-up, so his early success at the big-league level is an extension of his efforts with the Redbirds. He projects to see a string of starts while Kolten Wong (elbow) remains on the disabled list, although he's presently expected to return to the minors for further seasoning upon the latter's return.
