Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Alec Burleson will step in at first base while Goldschmidt exits the starting lineup for the first time since July 13, when he hit the bench for the first game of a doubleheader. After his bat had begun to heat up coming out of the All-Star break, Goldschmidt has started slumping again; he's gone 0-for-7 with seven punchouts against three walks over his last five games.
