Paddack elected to become a free agent Thursday.
Paddack was booted off the Rangers' 40-man roster after making one appearance and will choose free agency over an outright assignment to the minors for the second time in a little over a week, after he was DFA'd by the Reds on June 22. The righty will now look to latch on with a new organization.
