Astros pitcher Collin McHugh turned in a strong start Thursday against the Rangers.
McHugh allowed two runs on eight hits over seven innings. He struck out six and did not issue any walks during the outing. McHugh gave up both runs relatively early in the game. After giving up two singles to open the game, McHugh was able to induce a double play. A run would score on the play, giving McHugh the early deficit. The third inning proved troublesome as well. After loading the bases to start things off, McHugh allowed a run to come home on a sac fly. He was able to strike out the next two hitters in order to get out of the inning.
The Astros managed to score four runs in the fifth inning, putting McHugh in line for the win. He improved to 7-9. He’ll take on the Angels in his next start.
