The White Sox released Knebel on Thursday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Knebel had been on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Charlotte all season until July 9 while rehabbing a right shoulder capsule tear he suffered in August of 2022. Since returning from the IL, he's thrown 5.1 shutout innings while striking out eight batters and walking two. Despite his success, the 32-year-old righty will now enter the open market and should have little trouble finding another gig elsewhere.
