Hughes (knee) was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 27.
Hughes was sidelined for the last week of spring training with left knee soreness, and the Cubs opted for an IL stint rather than rushing him back for Opening Day. The left-hander threw a bullpen session Monday and will be eligible to be activated April 11.
