The Cubs optioned Palencia to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Palencia was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday for the second game of a doubleheader versus the Cardinals. However, the 24-year-old didn't make an appearance in his brief stint with the big club and will now head back to Triple-A.
