Cabrera (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
It will be Cabrera's first game appearance since he went down with a right middle finger blister in mid-August. The Cubs plan to bring Cabrera back as a reliever, but it's unclear how many rehab outings they have planned for him before he's reinstated to the active roster.
