Fargas was returned to Triple-A Iowa on Monday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Fargas appeared in 15 major-league games after he was claimed off waivers by the Cubs in July, and he slashed .226/.250/.290 with three runs, two RBI and a stolen base during that time. However, the 26-year-old will now be removed from the 40-man roster.
