The Cubs outrighted Stewart (elbow) off their 40-man roster Wednesday.
Stewart concluded the 2021 season on the 60-day injured list while he dealt with elbow inflammation, and the Cubs determined he wasn't worthy of being added back to the 40-man roster heading into the offseason. Before landing on the shelf in early July, Stewart made four appearances (three starts) for the Cubs, giving up eight earned runs on 17 hits and six walks over 13.2 innings.
