Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco has been limited to four pinch hitting appearances since he suffered a hip inpingement on April 12.
"This is a guy who would be hitting fourth right now if he were healthy enough to be behind the plate. He's a middle-of-the-order guy," manager Bryan Price said, per Cincinnati.com.
Mesoraco may get consistent playing time this week, as the Reds are scheduled to play an interleague series on the road against the White Sox. That means their lineup will include a designated hitter.
"Yeah. I think I could," Mesoraco said. "If I went out there and hit, that's not going to bother anything."
