Carroll (back) underwent an MRI, which came back clean, on Thursday, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.
Carroll was absent from the starting lineup for Arizona's last two contests while nursing low back discomfort, and he underwent imaging to determine if he was dealing with anything of significance. The outfielder appears to have avoided a major injury, and he is expected to return to the lineup for Friday's series opener versus the Rangers
