Smith cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Smith was DFA'd by Arizona last week after slashing just .141/.236/.192 with two extra-base hits, six RBI, five runs scored, one stolen base and a 10:18 BB:K across 89 trips to the plate with the Diamondbacks this season. The No. 7 overall pick of the 2017 Draft, Smith is now 30 years old and will try to find his swing again in the minors.
