Erlin signed last week with the Dodgers on a minor-league contract, Chris Hilburn-Trenkle of Baseball America reports.
The 31-year-old lefty will make his return to affiliated ball after spending the 2021 campaign in Japan with the Nippon-Ham Fighters, with whom he appeared in 11 games while submitting a 3.32 ERA and 20.5 percent strikeout rate over 38 innings. Erlin previously saw big-league action over parts of seven seasons from 2013 through 2020 with San Diego, Atlanta and Pittsburgh, compiling a lifetime 4.85 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 14.4 K-BB% across 339.2 innings. Though he has experience both starting and relieving at the MLB level, Erlin is expected to serve as organizational bullpen depth at Triple-A Oklahoma City for the Dodgers.
