Hernandez underwent surgery on his left elbow Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Hernandez had been playing through an elbow injury during the entire second half of the season and the postseason, and he's now elected to go under the knife to address the issue. His procedure will force him to miss the World Baseball Classic in March, and his status for Opening Day remains unknown.
