The Giants recalled Birdsong from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Birdsong will rejoin the San Francisco rotation Tuesday in Washington and has a shot to cement himself as a starter for the big club for the remainder of the season. The rookie right-hander has impressed in his first six major-league outings, collecting a 2.97 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 38:15 K:BB in 30.1 innings.
