Gage was pulled off his rehab assignment and shut down from throwing for a week after experiencing discomfort in his left elbow, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

The left-hander surrendered four runs over two-thirds of an inning during his third rehab outing Friday, which is presumably when the discomfort surfaced. Gage has been on the injured list since early July due to a flexor strain, and the setback could mean he's unable to return before the end of the season.
