Carrasco cleared waivers Friday and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Columbus.
After being dropped from Cleveland's 40-man roster Tuesday, Carrasco could have elected for free agency. Instead, the 37-year-old righty will stick with the organization he's spent 12 seasons with and finish the year in Triple-A. His demotion to Columbus acts somewhat as a promotion, as he most recently pitched for Double-A Akron while working his way back from a hip strain.
