Herrin (5-1) was charged with the loss Sunday against the Cardinals after giving up one run on a hit-by-pitch over one inning.

The hit batsman (Lars Nootbaar) was the only baserunner Herrin allowed in his appearance. Andrew Walters faltered in relieving Herrin, walking two batters and uncorking a wild pitch that allowed that the decisive run to score. It's a tough way to lose a 9.2-inning scoreless streak, but Herrin has been excellent in a mostly low-leverage role this year. He's pitched to a 1.98 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 66:25 K:BB across 64.2 innings while adding 15 holds, though he hasn't seen consistent usage as a setup man.
