Clevinger (1-0) pitched 5.2 scoreless innings of one-hit ball while walking four Royals and striking out five en route to Sunday's spot-start victory.

The right-hander was assigned to Triple-A during spring training, but he's since made adjustments to his mechanics that led to a good start in the minors. Before earning the call-up Saturday, Clevinger had posted a 1.50 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with 32 strikeouts over six starts (30 innings) in Columbus. The 26-year-old's services won't be needed with the imminent return of Corey Kluber (back), but if the ace isn't ready to make his scheduled start Saturday, Clevinger would be the obvious choice to get the ball again.
