Indians pitcher Corey Kluber told the Akron Beacon Journal Thursday night after being named professional athlete of the year in Cleveland that he's more focused on bringing home a championship, not a contract extension. Kluber noted that his agents have not engaged in any contract talks.

"No, not that I know of," Kluber said. "That's not my job to worry about that, my job is to go out there and pitch. I have agents that can handle that stuff for me when the time comes. My job is to get prepared to play this season."

Kluber is under contract until after the 2018 season. He went 18-9 with a 2.44 ERA over 34 starts. He posted a 1.09 WHIP and 269:51 K:BB ratio over 235 2/3 innings, good enough for him to capture the American League CY Young award last season.

"As cool as it was to win a Cy Young, I think winning a World Series would be a lot better," Kluber said.
