Faria was released by the Red Sox on Thursday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
Faria has allowed five earned runs in just two innings of work this season at the major-league level and was sporting an ugly 6.38 ERA in 60.2 innings at Triple-A Worcester. He inked a minor-league contract with Boston in February and will now head back to the open market.
