White Sox starting pitcher Jose Quintana was knocked around but escaped without factoring into the decision Tuesday night against the Rangers.
Quintana allowed solo homers to Nelson Cruz and Jeff Baker on consecutive pitches in the fourth inning. The left-hander was charged with four runs on eight hits in five innings. He struck out two and walked one in 97 pitches, 58 for strikes. It was the first home run that he has allowed since his season debut April 5.
Quintana's ERA rose from 2.78 to 3.58. He'll try to get back on track Sunday at Kansas City. He has allowed seven runs and 17 hits in his last 12 innings at Kauffman Stadium.
