The Twins released Staumont on Saturday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Staumont was removed from the Twins' 40-man roster earlier in the week after the Twins cleared room for trade-deadline addition Trevor Richards. The right-hander went unclaimed on waivers prior to ultimately being let go Saturday. The reliever has produced a respectable 3.70 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 18 strikeouts over 24.1 innings in 25 appearances with Minnesota this season, and he'll likely get another shot with a big-league club in the near future.
