Embattled Tigers starter Justin Verlander had a two-hit shutout through six innings Sunday against the Royals. But he loaded the bases on three straight singles, then allowed an RBI infield hit and an RBI grounder.

Verlander left with the game tied 2-2, but the bullpen allowed three more runs, two of which were charged to Verlander. In 6 1/3 innings, Verlander struck out three, walked one and yielded six hits. He's 8-8 with a 4.88 ERA entering the All-Star break.

Verlander's next start is scheduled for July 21 at Arizona.
