Bergman had his contract selected from Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday.
Bergman was once considered an option to make a spot start Sunday, but the team instead opted for lefty Dillon Overton. He'll get the call to the majors nonetheless, likely as an insurance policy if Overton is ousted early. He'll take the 40-man roster spot of Shae Simmons, who was transferred to the 60-day disabled list in a corresponding move.
