Gilbert didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's win over the Rangers, allowing four earned runs on six hits, a walk and a wild pitch over six innings. He struck out seven.
The right-hander allowed at least four runs for the fourth time in the last six starts, with two-run home runs by Leody Taveras and Marcus Semien in the third and fifth innings, respectively, accounting for the damage. On the brighter side, Gilbert was able to continue generating plenty of swings and misses, notching 15 whiffs among his 97 pitches while extending his streak of starts with at least six Ks to eight outings. Gilbert pushed his career-high strikeout total to 198 as well with Saturday's production, and he'll once again aim for his eighth victory in a projected road rematch with the Rangers on Friday night.
