O'Malley, who remains sidelined with a concussion sustained at Triple-A Tacoma on Aug. 22, is not expected to be called up when major-league rosters expand Friday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports. "Shawn has gone through a lot this season, between the shoulder issue and there's been a ton of different things that have come upon him this year," manager Scott Servais said. "So I don't know what kind of status he's in game-shape or if he can really help us."
The veteran utility man has endured a laundry list of health woes this season, with the head injury being his latest ailment. O'Malley has yet to be cleared to resume baseball activities with the Rainiers, and it appears likely that his 2017 game action will be limited to the Triple-A level.
