Cooper isn't starting Thursday against the Giants due to an intercostal injury, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Cooper is banged up following Wednesday's doubleheader against Colorado, but the team is hopes he'll be available off the bench in Thursday's series opener against the Giants. Jorge Soler will serve as the designated hitter while Luke Williams starts in left field.
