Dayton signed a minor-league contract with the Marlins on Monday, which includes an invitation to spring training, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.
Dayton appears to be back to full strength after inking a MiLB deal and will set his sights on competing for a role in the Marlins' bullpen. He appeared in 13 games during the 2021 season with Atlanta, posting a 6.23 ERA and 1.62 WHIP with a 14:6 K:BB across 13 frames but missed a good chunk of the campaign due to shoulder inflammation. The southpaw went under the knife in November of 2021 to clean up the AC join in his left shoulder, an operation that wasn't expected to disrupt his normal offseason throwing program.
